Check it out, REDEEM HAITI’s six month report is released! It is in .pdf format. If you would like a hard copy, please contact REDEEM HAITI and we would be glad to provide you with one. The report contains some of our deeds, a few of our stories, our financials, what’s going on now, what’s next, and how you can help.

Our hope is that you desire to become a part of the ministry. In many ways the foundation is laid, the opportunity is before us, and now we need you like never before. If Haiti is to be redeemed we need workers of the gospel able and willing to share their lives, their skills and their gifts with a people in great need. The goal is beyond our current physical means, so we are praying and seeking to increase those means and rely on the God who is far beyond them in order to truly accomplish His work. We are seeking to invest long term in a community in Haiti, doing sustainable ministry that can reproduce itself. We don’t want your millions, we want you to invest far more than that; your time, your job skills, your love, your grace. The model isn’t to throw resources at the problem, the model is to incarnate the Gospel to the lives of individual Haitians inside a local community. It is connecting our local community of faith into a local community of need in Haiti. Promoting reconciliation, equipping servant leaders, assisting the poor, caring for the sick, and educating the next generation is our plan, all part of The Gospel we preach. Will you help us?

If you are interested in being a part of our first phase of community investment, contact RH asap. A trip is in the plans for late August or September depending on the response. We will travel to potential communities where RH has developed relationships and begin planning the next steps within the PEACE plan. We need leaders, doers with any and all expertise and we need those of you who are very ambitious. Anyone interested is also invited to join us, July 27th at 7pm for a meeting regarding the ministry and trip. RSVP for meeting and we will send you location.

As Haiti continues to fade from public attention one thing is certain, the needs are ever present and REDEEM HAITI has not stopped and will not stop its ministry to Haiti. We continue to connect individuals, supplies, as well as medical and ministry teams from all over the United States into Haiti. We continue to make regular contact with those on the ground and are seeking to do all that we can with all that we have while also developing strategies and steps for the long road ahead.

While I was in Haiti I was able to discuss the ideas of strategy and steps for the road ahead with a man name Charlie Beall. We met while in Haiti as we were both focusing our efforts on locating orphans and orphanages and coordinating their support. Not only was he one of the few English speaking Americans staying in our compound, but coincidentally he also lives in Roswell, GA; twenty minutes away from my own home in Canton. After long days Charles and I would have discussions about what we had experienced and how best to help. Looking back, Charlie was one of those people I will never forget. Charlie became a quick inspiration for me: displaying unique leadership ability and a moral courageousness that is simply rare and contagious. During those days in Haiti we developed a special bond.

Many of you may have seen Charlie Beall in the CNN video. The video showed a boy that was a patient at the Hospital supplied by REDEEM HAITI immediately following the earthquake. Charlie was helping a Dominican team transport the boy into the hospital. The boy was saved and recovered and is now living with family on the streets of Port au Prince, Haiti.

Seeing Charlie work in Haiti brings me to the exciting announcement of the development of Critical Path International: Global Crisis Response for Children, founded by Charlie Beall. Critical Path International is a global crisis response and humanitarian aid organization that supplies food, shelter and medical care to children living in extreme poverty worldwide. Critical Path International also provides disaster relief integration and logistics support to government and non-government organizations that share our objectives. My hope and prayer is that with the development of Critical Path International we will continue to bring much hope, love, and redemption to the children of Haiti. As Charlie often says and truly lives, every life saved is a victory.

For more of the backstory…

REDEEM HAITI received this news from on-the-ground partners in Port au Prince, Haiti:

Three months since the earthquake and Haiti is still far from rising from her ashes. Easter Sunday came and went with little change for the 1.5 million displaced people. There is still a great need for medical relief work as we deal with the long-neglected primary care and possibility of outbreaks of infectious diseases. In February 2010, a clinic in Croix-des- Bouquets (20 miles from Port-au-Prince) tested 88 people for malaria. Forty percent (40%) of them tested positive.

We feel it urgent to invite more medical teams to come and serve Haiti. Many of you reading this email have already worked long hours with us and your efforts are greatly appreciated. That being said, the harvest is still ripe in the tent cities and hospitals all over the country. They are asking for our help and we have had to turn them away.

If you are interested in serving in this capacity please contact us and we will put you to work to meet these enormous needs.

Please pray, this crisis is far from over.

Since the earthquake over a month ago, I’ve been continually working on ministry regarding Haiti, connecting individuals, churches, and other organizations into the opportunities through many relationships established through REDEEM HAITI. What I have found, both while on the ground in Haiti and from the contacts I receive here, is that local churches and church organizations are truly leading a relief effort that is making a lasting impact. And while there are misguided groups that seem to make the news, by and large the response from believers like you, who are no longer satisfied with status quo charity, are really stepping up and making a difference. In this video you see how REDEEM HAITI seeks to take charity beyond resource distribution, to actually practicing gospel love, meeting people’s needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Special thanks to Acts of Mercy International in Waco, TX who really practice this kind of love. And to Stanley, a Dominican Haitian brother who is fluent in three languages and is a total church leader. The blog post mentioned in the video is here.
