How do I adopt a Haitian orphan?

One of the most frequent questions I received both during my time in Haiti and now that I’m home is, “How do I adopt a Haitian orphan?”  Michael Robison , who just returned from uniting Haitian children with their adoptive parents gives a straight-forward practical answer. Together for Adoption reminds believers that what is needed in the adoption process is gospel-patience.

UPDATE FROM ADOPTION DISCOVERY:

With the recent crisis in Haiti, Adoption Discovery has been touchingly overwhelmed with calls and emails from individuals inquiring about adopting the many homeless orphans there. The first question seems to be, how do I get started?

We at Adoption Discovery are here to help you!   While many want to urgently help, the first and most crucial step is educating yourself about the journey of adoption you are about to embark upon.  You can do this by joining an Adoption Discovery group and getting plugged in.  The support is free for participants and can make a huge difference in the life of a child waiting for a place to call home.

This group will:

·         Help you understand the adoption process and how to prepare for your home study.

·         Educate you on how to find the adoption professional (agency, lawyer, etc.) that specifically fits your needs and desires.

·         Work through how to reduce or eliminate your cost for adoption.

·         Support you through your process before, during, and after adoption with resources and real answers to your questions.

By educating yourself first, this small group will help you move through the process more confidently and in a timely manner.

3.       Choose the type of group- church, Individual, workplace, community

4.       Purchase the group curriculum kit ( click on the store tab)

5.       Register a leader- can be a volunteer or staff person ( no worries, we will train them online)

Please send anyone you know that is interested in adopting (from Haiti/Internationally or domestic) to www.adoptiondiscovery.org. and “click” find a group.  If there is currently not a group in their area, they will be put on a waiting list to be notified as soon as a new one is starting.
